Black Trans Alliance Donate Fundraise Stand with us Built for this moment. Black Trans Alliance was founded in June 2020 — a Black queer and trans-led grassroots non-profit supporting Black trans and non-binary people across London and the wider UK. We came into being because our community needed somewhere built by us, for us. Five years on, we hold each other through the daily work of surviving and thriving in a country that has not yet decided whether to let us do either. The present moment The UK is more hostile to trans people than at any point since we were founded. In 2025, the UK Supreme Court ruled to exclude trans women from the legal definition of “woman.” The English FA banned trans women from women's football. The mainstream press treats our humanity as debate. NHS gender clinic waiting lists stretch beyond five years. Anti-trans rhetoric is no longer fringe — it is normalised in policy, in print, and in parliament. For Black trans people, every one of those moments is compounded by anti-Black racism in every institution they touch. What the numbers say. Stonewall's LGBT in Britain — Trans Report (2018) found that 41% of trans people in the UK had experienced a hate crime or incident in the previous year. 64% were bullied in school for their gender expression. The figures for Black trans people are consistently worse on every measure. Safe and affordable housing remains out of reach. Trans-affirming employment remains scarce. Healthcare remains rationed. The numbers cannot capture the full scale of it. They never could. Where your money goes. As a Black queer and trans-led organisation, we build long-term solutions for our community — centred on peer support, advocacy, crisis services, and the elevation of authentic Black trans storytelling. Your contribution funds: Peer counselling. Trained Black trans peer supporters, online and one-to-one, for community members who need to be heard by someone who has been where they are. Inclusive safe spaces. Gatherings, group sessions, and online community where Black trans and non-binary people show up as themselves. Hardship assistance. Direct support for community members in immediate crisis, when waiting for systems to catch up is not an option. Platforms to amplify Black trans voices. Storytelling, public writing, podcasts, and the campaigns that put our community at the centre of the conversation, not the margins. Our mission Black Trans Alliance is committed to supporting, protecting and amplifying the voice of Black trans and non-binary people in London and the wider community — through advocacy, education, visibility, and empowerment. When so many fail to show up Stand with the Black trans community. Your donation affirms that #BlackTransLivesMatter when too many institutions still won't. Help us continue the work.
